We are pleased to announce the annual Fallen Officer Memorial Golf Classic to be held at the beautiful Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass on Saturday, April 25, 2026. This golf tournament honors Fallen Officers and benefits Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) Charities.

PLEA Charities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization striving to promote the positive image of law enforcement and enhance the quality of life in our communities by helping police officers in need as well as assisting organizations and individuals within the communities we serve. We support programs such as Back the Blue Officer Support, Back to School Drive, Shop with a Cop, Phoenix Police Cadet Scholarship and other community events and programs.

Whirlwind Golf Club is a truly unique Southwest golf experience sensitively designed to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Gila River Indian Community. Surrounded by spectacular mountains, this unique golf venue was also home to the PGA’s Nationwide Insurance Tour, Gila River Golf Classic for five years.
The two courses, Devil’s Claw and Cattail, are masterpieces developed by Gary Panks covering 500 acres, with 250 acres of turfed area and 250 acres of desert landscape. They will impress and challenge golfers of all levels of players while maintaining a sense of fairness and playability. Featuring pristine and uncluttered views of the Sierra Estrella Mountains, the courses showcase the beauty of the natural terrain.
Both Devil’s Claw and Cattail were created to reflect the land while the waters still flowed on the reservation by combining the Gila River landscape including Cottonwood, Mesquite, Saguaro and Palo Verde trees with native grasses and rolling terrain. These challenging golf courses stretching well over 7000 yards also features gradual elevation changes, great bunker designs with multi-tiered greens.

Can I request a specific course?
Yes. We will do our best to honor your request. Please email our staff at charities@pleacharities.org.
Can I use my paid ticket fee as a donation?
Yes, for the fair market value according to IRS regulations. Early bird registration of $175 allows a $6 donation amount and standard registration of $200 allows a $31 donation amount.
Are refunds allowed?

Golf Classic Player
Prizes:
- Raffle tickets will be sold at the tournament.
- Raffle prizes awarded at lunch.

- Discounted early registration due before March 1st. Registration due by April 11th at 4:30 P.M.
Cost:
- $175.00/Golfer (Early) | $200.00/Golfer (Regular)
- Includes: Green fees, golf cart for every two players, commemorative golf hat, unlimited range balls, catered lunch, goodie bag and more!
Play:
- Four-person Scramble. Each team’s players hit from the tee box, then the team members choose the best of the four shots for the next shot. All team members play the second shot from that location and again choose the best shot. Play continues in this manner until the hole is completed.

Our fallen heroes
Today and always, we honor the fallen heroes of our department. The annual Officer Memorial Ceremony is a solemn reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by those who swore to protect and serve. We stand united in remembrance and gratitude.
Every May during Peace Officer Memorial Month, the Arizona Peace Officers Memorial Board pays tribute to the peace officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Arizona honors fallen peace officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice at the annual Peace Officers Memorial Service at the Arizona State Capitol. Families and survivors of the fallen heroes are welcome the annual event to pay tribute. The somber ceremony, led by the Arizona Peace Officers Memorial Board, is held in Wesley Bolin Plaza at the Peace Officer Memorial.
We honor and remember those who we have lost in the line of duty. Annually the Phoenix Police Department also holds a memorial ceremony prior to the National Police Week Events.
